Its 5.3 2001 reg cab chevy
Now it will not start. Someone my dad knows told

It's possible that the pump burnt up. When you turn the key to run, do you hear the fuel pump come on to prime for 1-2 seconds?

Yeah, it's probably the pump. I don't think gasoline engines need the fuel lines to be bled of air after running out of fuel.

Yes we put gas in it. I knew I should have put that in there
at the begining. We towed it to my dads house last night. but havent
worked on it yet.

I will check to see if I can hear the pump coming on.
THANKS

if the pump is working you may want to replace the fuel filter (even if it's not still do it), you you suck down to the last bit of gas often you'll pick up all the fine particles in the tank and clog the filter.

Have you checked the fuel pressure yet? I'd do that first before tearing into the tank and pump. Pumps are expensive and a PITA to replace!

+1 for checking the pressure. Replace the fuel filter then check the pressure on the fuel rail.
