i had the street scene speed insert on my 2000 silverado...it goes over the factory openings and attaches using clips; when i got in my wreck, the clips fell out but they will just push in over the openings. ask cashdudehomie, i sold him the ones i had...

did it look good? like could you see the stock inserts behind it? i saw a GMC today that had a speed grill on it and you could see the stock plastic and big GMC letters behind it clear as day. chevy's don't have to worry about and letters or anything but will my stock chrome insert be visible?

what color is your truck?
i painted my inserts a chrome color, so the original backing dissapeared behind it, but if you leave them factory or paint them another color then you'll be able to see them; it wont look too bad though.
i think the only way you'll be able to get rid of the original back is to get a billett.

I tried to post this last night but my Webtv would not send the form for some reason, so 02 Z71 might have already said some of this stuff:
Yeah, 02 Z71 is the man, he hooked me up with a sweet looking Speed Grill. Yes you can barely see the factory grill, it is not bad enough to bother me and I am picky but you could cut the factory one out. If you have a GMC you could remove the emblem before putting the new grill on. For install I just used zip ties on hidden parts of the grill instead of clips. Me and 02 Z71 painted it "chrome" (more like bright silver) I have a pic, I will try to get some more pics ASAP. Try this http://auction.2y.net/user/cashdudeh...dudestruck.jpg This mod was worth every cent, even if I would have paid full price for a new one. Thanks again 02 Z71 <img border="0" alt="[cheers]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_cheers.gif" /> BTW Did you ever sell or install that shift kit?

I have the Street Scene grilles also. They recomend painting the chrome stock inserts black if it is a Silverado grille. The Tahoe grill like i have is black already. I had them in my Siverado grille with out painting anything, and it looked finr to me. Get in touch with our site sponsor Afterthoughts Auto , they are starting to sell some truck stuff and will work with you on the best possible price.
