i decided to go to the track and finally test the gears i had installed and custom tune that i received back around xmas time. yea long time huh. well the temps were in the high 80's. my last time to the track it was pretty cool out at around 40 some degrees.


i made 4 runs before calling it quits and they all looked about like this
60' 2.36
with a 15.34 quarter . my normal times were 14.8 to 15.0

i guess the temps really do foul things up. but along with the temps i think my custom tune isn't right. started getting KR and Ltrms are 4.00.

at least my new tires did their job and gave me traction. but then again, it wasn't like i was able to smoke em off the line either.

i'll be waiting till october before i head back. at least then i can hold my head up a little. btw, no other trucks worth mentioning were there.

I know what you mean. When it gets in the 90's here I wouldnt race my grandmother if she was in a Gocart.

 

What kind of "custom tune" are you running? Who did the tune for you?

 

well i have the 5.3. i am using a custom tune for the predator. (previously BigKID had played with it and gotten what he could out of it by using his scan software that he uses for edit imo his tuning it a lot better than what is in there now) i have underdrive pulley, cai, exhaust, plugs n wires, efans, free mods and the pred. i can't think of anything else. but this combo has gotten me a few high 14.8's and traction was a problem on those runs so a low 14.8 could have been possible.

oh yea, those runs were made with the g80 and 3.42 gears. i now have the g80 with 3.73 gears.

Sounds like you have luck like me. Just found out I got shorted 1 damn valve spring. I guess now I get to go through the trouble of having to get everything straightened out. Only bad thing is, the springs are at a machine shop in another state. This could be fun.

 

if you were running 16's before, i think you would have ran a 17 yesterday. it was just terrible. most people that were there were packing up and leaving. hell for all i know it could have been the timing system but i doubt it. it might be time to dig deep and buy me a 6.0L and throw the 5.3 in my project truck and the 4.8 in the prizm. rice killer!
