Default So I'm looking at buying a used 4.8L Silverado (few questions).

I've been keeping my eye out for a truck latly and saw one today that is exacly what I was looking for. Only problem is it has the 4.8 but, it's a 2000 with 55k and I can get it for $12,000. I have a few questions first since I'm not really a truck guru. What was the 4.8 rated at in 2000? What do they have for rear ends (10 bolt?) and is posi/aurburn standard with the 4WD? Also, how do these truck intakes like to flow fuel? It will have a nitrous set up for sure but it looks like I could run into some puddling issues with that big old intake. Here's a pic, I can pick it up tommorow if I want it. DO you guys think I should go get it or wait it out for a 5.3?

I'm not positive on the 2000 models but my 2001 is rated at 270hp. So you're in that area.

Nice truck, I say go for it. The 4.8 is a nice motor, almost as good as a 5.3.

Wow the HP power rating is actually better than I thought. More than likley it has an open rear end since the truck doesn't have many options. The locker code for my dads '03 is G80, it would be the same for this truck right? I'm going to go check it out again today.

I just bought my truck a week and a half ago, and it has the 4.8L. I have no complaints about it at all. It's not nearly as fast as the T/A, but for a truck it still has plenty of get up and go....

I have the 3.73 posi in my truck, and it's an LS.

I bought the truck today. On the way home I discovered some issues. At WOT the truck threw a misfire code and showed like 5*of KR at 5,000rpm. Bank 2 LTFT was +16. It looks like they started to steam clean the passanger side of the motor and then stopped. Since Bank 1 looks totaly normal I think it's an injector problem and the dealer said that they would take care of it so I'm not to worried about it.

On the plus side of things I changed the plug/wires and it took less than 1/2 an hour. I used of it taking 4 hours wiht the Camaro.
