I was in Irvine over the weekend visiting one of my buddies at Concordia Univ. and I know what you guys are experiencing. My truck was covered with ashes. We have fires in AZ, but Phoenix is never downwind of them, so I have never been rained on with ashes before. It truely is crazy out there! Oh yeah, the smell too...

That's insane.

We only get small brush fires every few years up here in the North East. The last one was a few years ago. Driving home around midnight, after a weekend away... it's about 80-something degree's out.. a hot summer night. All of the windows were down, back window out, sunroof...

I roll into my small town, and I smell smoke. I start up my street, a five mile ride to the house. I notice the moon behind some tree's. It's red. I'm thinking WTF? I keep getting strong wiff's of smoke, when it finally clicks.

I was getting more and more nervous, the close I got to the house. We're surrounded by woods. Turns out it was about 2 miles away, across the street in the state forest.

The fire didn't burn too much land. It was out in about 12 hours.

I can only imagine what this is like.
