I was leaving work and was fixing to pull out on this road that goes over this bridge. I seen this old body style ford (80-90something) nail it a the light. I pull out on the road and punch it (he wasn't punching at the time) and let off about a truck in front of him. Then he nailed it, we were going right at 60 mph going up the bridge. I smoked the crap out of him! We raced until about 80 mph and I had put over 2 trucks on him real fast.
After we got off the bridge and got on another road I got beside him and asked him what motor he had, he said 351. I asked him if it was stock, he said Nooo. He said he had it rebuilt w/ a cam, high-flow intake manifold, new carb, high-compression flat-top pistons, and headers.
I thought it was pretty cool that I'd beat a truck with a rebuilt 351
I'll be hunting down a bunch of trucks when I get the LS1 built

Why not go pick on a Dodge! lol That 351W with them bolt-ons would be lucky to make 300hp like that...stock E7 heads SUCK (if it were an earlier 80s then it's got heads worse than the E7s!). They are just terrible. 1.78/1.48 valves, very low flow, etc. A set of aluminums like AFR, Canfield, TFS, etc add a solid 70-100hp! Yes, those numbers are right...that's how bad they are.
Sorry, I may have a BowTie around my neck...but a Blue Oval belt buckle!

LOL, yeah I guess I'm in denial. I dunno, I do have that new motor, heads, headers, etc etc in my garage for the Ford. I need to tear the motor down and freshen it up. Gotta find a set of '90-92 factory forged pistons, order ARP hardware, TSS rings, FM bearings, Melling oil pump, all gaskets, and find a Cobra/GT40 style intake (cheap as hell here) and a 75mm TB too. Need to order a cam too. Just need to get my *** in gear and get it done. I should make a solid 275-300rwhp.
Can't do that until I get that bigass E4OD 3/4 tranny back there and can't do that until I have a steady flow of funds coming in.
Also I have to figure out how to get that tranny to work. It's about 6" longer and 3" wider than the one coming out. It's like going from a 200-4R to a 4L80E!
Does it ever end? lol

If you would put a few bolt ons on that Z71, you could do better than that and in more style ... face it .. Fords are slow.

Well it only has a 3" stroke! LOL. A mild cam (218/224 .512/.512 114LSA), AFR 165s (58cc), high flow intake manifold, roller rockers, it should do it. I also have 4.10:1 gears now, LTs, e-fans, pulleys, etc.
It's fairly light...like 4300lbs only. All I need is a converter for that tranny also. I think it'll pull a 13.99 or better.
A buddy of mine has a set of halfassed ported GT40 iron heads, a 224/230 cam, stall, tune, and intake manifold...he layed down 304rwhp. So with MUCH better heads and slighlty smaller cam I should be close to that. I'm trying not to over estimate it!

Dood .... maybe you need to get a life, HitMan and I were just joking around .. he drives a Ford truck, Z71 and a damn Subaru. If you don't like the joking around and ribbing that we do .... GO THE **** AWAY! Go back to where ever the hell you came from. As I said before ... Fords are slow ... get over it. I've never seen one at the track, so I couldn't tell you how bad I beat them. Maybe it's because like they know they are slow. Even the damn GT, I've read kill stories all over the boards about Mustang GT kills, Chevy and Dodge truck boards. Anything Ford puts out is slow ... they have to put a blower on it to even compete with the rest of the vehicles in thier class.
We have bolt on trucks here that beat Lightnings, and bolt on Camaro's and T/A's that are beating the **** out of the Cobras.

Sit and spin ... but get your brownie off your finger before you start pointing again.

Yeah, we just *** clown around here. I'm a pretty realistic Ford owner.
My ol' Ford is a project for me. The progression of technology shows that you can have power AND economy now...where as when my Ford was built it had neither. I have realistic goals powerwise for it, they may be a lil conservative but we shall see.
It was rated at 185hp/270tq stock! Yes, that's pretty damned anemic. It lays out whole 200-220rwhp I'd say now. Not much but considering it started life around 140rwhp that's quite a feat. As soon as Allen gets his dyno I'm gonna go spin the rollers and see what I have to work with prior to
me sticking in the new motor.
Sure a truck suprising a lowly sports car owner (like let's say my Z71 w/ a stall and full exhaust would) but it's an '01 model. It's a FAR greater feat to take something far from quick that was built in the '80s and suprise someone. I'd be waaaaaay more upset (then have a HUGE smile) if an '80s box tore my *** up on the streets as opposed to a new vehicle. I LOVE sleepers, they are the best way.
Am I a ricer since I have a WRX too?
