Should I buy a Lightning?

Lightnings are cool, plus you have to love blower whine. The problem I see is that the truck is 7 years old, and others have stated that they have reliability issues. I'd take one... for the right price.

The thing thats holding me back from a stall and gears is the transmission blowing up and the same goes with FI.

A 408 with a T88 sts looks pretty tempting
There is no way I would buy that! Why would you?? In addition to the payments and the crap interest rate you would get, you would have to insure it. Get a quote on that!! You could go with a 408 and a T88 as you mentioned (which is the ultimate plan for my truck) and absolutely decimate any Lightning that still has a blower!! And still have some money to really make your truck stand out in the appearance dept!

IT was a head problem on the 99/00. Doesnt matter if they were stock or modded, tuned or untuned, they would literally blow a spark plug out of the head even during normal driving.

Glad to hear a decision to avoid the lightning was made. I too have always been tempted when looking at that truck but I have heard/read far too much about their poor reliability. Just stick with your trusty GM, pay it off and drop in a new engine or go forced induction.
