Default Short bed conversion??? 05 chevy 1500

Hey guys, Its been a while since I posted on this site. Anyways, I picked up a 05 RCLB stupid cheap... and its in good shape. I have a used shortbed I can throw toward the project if I decide to do it. Anyways, I have been a part of swapping a 73-87 from LWB to SWB and it was fairly easy. Has anyone done a short bed conversion on 99-06 1500s? ive done a good bit of seaching and have not found much. I mean i have no problem with the fuel tank, driveshaft, brake and fuel lines and wiring... thats all a given and no big deal. How about the actual frame conversion??? Where do I cut? How about bed mounts... Do I have to move them around?? Im in this truck so cheap that its worth it to me and I have a bed etc... anyways... any input, links to a build thread I havent found, pics, anything would be helpfull. thanks again.. Cole.

Yup, It's been done a time or too... Just not very well documented on this site. There is some on the D-max forums.

Ive always had a strange urge to put a 5'8" bed off a crew cab truck onto a reg cab.

That would be different! A super short lol. I've seen extended cabs with the 5'8 bed and they look stubby

I assume the rear of the frame is the same as a regular 2wd so I guess I can pull the bed off of it and start measuring and just figure it out. It seems pretty straight forward. Thanks again.
