Question Sending converter back to Yank for inspection?

As some of you know I recently demoed my second tranny. This time I actually blew up some stuff and had metal all in my tranny which probablly got in my converter as well. Has anyone here ever sent their converter back to Yank to have them cut it open an do a thurough inspection before putting it back in? If so did it cost anything besides shipping? I have only had the converter since April so it is still under warranty if that covers it.

Don't know but am interested in outcome,Whitt has one to send for R&R also.
I think they have to cut it open to clean and check, then weld and rebalance.?

I had sent my PT4200 to yank to have it looked at when the stock trans went out in the Z28. I had some burned metal deposits on the hub because the bushing in the pump went bad. He polished the bushing deposits off the hub. Then, he checked out the fluid inside the converter and said there wasnt anything bad in the fluid to warrant cutting it open for further inspection. He shipped the converter back to me along with my pro yank 4L60E. You could try calling and see what he thinks would be the best solution.

Later,
Jordan

I just got a very vague emails back from Mike@yank. $150 to look it over and $28 for the return shipping. I wonder if I can just call and tell them it is messed up and they will just give me a new one or fix this one under warranty since it is only 7months old. I want it done right but I just dont have the 200 bucks to do it right now and I want my converter back. This stock one sucks after getting used to the Yank.

Check around ... there may be somewhere local that can flush the converter out. That will get rid of the metal in the fluid from it. This is what they did with my old one after the built tranny went by the way side.
