It's your pass-lock sensor, located in your ignition switch case. The GM part # is 88965342.

the key won't turn in the cylinder??? if that's the case it's not the pass lock

try grabbing the steering wheel and turning it back and forth while trying to turn the key

He has a heavy key ring;maybe that, over a 7 year period, caused a mechanical problem in the lock cylinder.

Anyone else want to chime-in.

Yeah and the lock cylinder turns inside the Ignition Case wich has the pass lock sensor in it. It's what I reccomended he change. If the Ignition Case is bad, then key cylinder will not turn.

He tried his other key, too. A locksmith is coming who does auto stuff.

Thanks for the replies.

Torque Wrench: He can't identify the pass lock. The key does not have a chip in it.

The key won't have a chip in it. The passlock sensor works off the key & cylinder position.

Trust me....
