How much more HP and HP capability do you need to be happy?

That damn car can easily put out 440+hp with a few mods and still have a warranty! Top that with GM.

The GTO is crap in comparison to a Cobra (when it comes to performance) and the capability of that car. So is the Camaro when it comes to ease of modding.

I think the "why do you need a supercharger?" mentality is amusing. You say it took a supercharger for Ford to match GM. I think it was one of the coolest things they could have done. Take a quick look at all the really fast cars/trucks making a HUGE impact on the industry right now and you will find forced inducted cars leading the charge..... Lightning, WRX STi, Lancer EVO8, Neon SRT-4, 03' Cobra, etc etc. Or simply look at the Buick GN, they should have kept that kind of thinking up.

Ohh well, I'll stop now since I am well aware I sound like an *******. Sorry but these debates get me riled up when people are so closed minded. I've raced in both camps and I can tell you from experiance that no matter which camp you are in there are always problems with each car/truck when you start pushing it. If you think one brand is magically better than the other then please pass me some of what you are smoking. LOL

 

have you driven the GTO,not just a test drive.then how can you say it is crap compared the the cobra,put a SC on the gto and see which one is crap..wife didnt buy her GTO to race everything that moves,she bought because she wanted it even over a vette,(we have a 5 year old) no room in the vette. she had a mustang years ago and it stayed in the damn shop.yes all makes have problems.dodges have bad trannys,gm bad window motors and some weak trannys.my 2002 z71 burned out 2nd gear 2 times in 30,000 miles.i like the mustangs but if you are gonna compare performance ,do it with the same type of motors........

I have been in a GTO. I am the president of Cali's largest LS1 club so I'm not a total noob to them. They are indeed really nice cars and the interior is sweet. If i needed a family car I wouldn't think twice about getting one. But mod for mod the Cobra will still whoopass on a GTO. You're simply too heavy and not geared for the battle.

I was comparing motors to motors, smaller cubed Mustang motor to bigger cubed Camaro motor. Take a look at the #s for a new Mach1 Mustang. Not too far off the LS1 and it' doesn't use a blower.

Anyway, I relalize I wont change anyones opinion here so we are all just wasting "breath" LOL..

Sorry if I offended you. I didn't mean to slam your car. They are nice, just much different than a Cobra

Cobras rock, but the insurance on them is killer. Alot of people are selling them. Plus you can buy an fbod and put on a supercharger and stronger rearend for less than a cobra (Plus the Cobras have that weak IRS, though the GTO has a lame IRS too)

 

Yeah, because even the newest Fbody is 2 years old now. And almost all of them have decent milage to them also. Unlike the Cobra which you can still get a full warranty with. And i dunno what kind of IRS unit the GTO has, but C5 units are built like crazy. Minor upgrades and they can handle crazy power. Thats one thing Ford should take a look @, and see just what they're doing wrong

 

since fbody's are getting older, if i had to do it all over again i would buy a used Z28 or T/A for around 15-20K and turn it into a 436ci monster. the money i spent to buy a brand new one with my current mods probably would not have been a huge difference in price. o well

 

I ran a guy in a 95 Mustang GT the other night...and WALKED him! He pulled up at the next light and said, "Damn, that thing runs, ever had it at the track?". I said yeah, and told him that I had ran in the mid to high 14's, with a best of 14.5x. He said, "Damn (again...lots of damns'), I only ran a best of 14.8, that's faster then my car".
