Ok, I gotta ask just for kicks - Have you ever driven one? Ever hit 150 in one? Ever worked on one?

My guess is no. My guess is that your brand loyalty has mapped this thought for you. I would not own one either but do not understand it when I hear these blanket statements about our nemesis from people who have formed that opinion simply because others have.

So I ask, do you say this because you drove a few and thought they sucked? Or because you just "feel" that way because of what others "believe"? Know what I mean? Its like me saying your girl is horrible in bed when I havent even hit it........yet.

Now - I can say they suck because I have driven many GT's. They're fun cars, no doubt, but not my bag. Do not like the interior, traction control pisses me off and they're a bit slower than I anticipated. By I took one through some hard twisties and it was a blast on the top end and pulling out of hairpin turns at 50 sideways. Its just a different kind of car than I am used to or prefer

 

I wish this would have happened to me... I would have made him think twice about messing with another pickem'-up truck.

btw.. I do like mustangs and would drive a S281-E, 03+ Cobra or any other fast mustang in a heartbeat, granted I didnt have to pay for it.

 

Best reply yet. That about sums it up for me. The few I drove were family and friends cars and it was fun to hammer on them knowing it was not my investment. I didnt try to break them, just ringed em out and drove them like they're supposed to be driven.

 

I dont mind Mustangs, cause i'd rather see someone modify that up vs a Civic or Integra thinking they're going to be John Force or a Bonneville jet car or something.

If i had to get a Mustang, it'd be a 01 Cobra with a T56, solid axle and a TT 5.0 DOHC stroker engine. Thats about one of the only one's i'd really like to have. Ive driven a few 99+s and my best friend owns a 94 Cobra (flows, shifter, K&N) they're nice and all that but i'd much rather have an Fbody.

 

You have got to be kidding me. The only thing GM what has made 390+ HP
out of the factory with, oh yeah the Z06.Ford has the lightining and the Cobra Both at 390 the lightining soon to be at 500.Ford hasa 281/4.6 making 390 and a 5.4making 500+. Think about it doesn't Z06 have a 6.0 and making 400 Hp vs 390 hp with the ford. So you do the math same amount of Hp with a way smaller engine.Who is making the most Hp Cubic Inch by Cubic Inch?????

Do not even talk about the GTO go to its web site and you will find were the Mach one Beat it the quarter mile (350 vs 281) Hmm.How about your gm "Muscle cars" By the what are GMs to muscle cars the Gto and SS monte carlo.

dude, the z06 doesnt have a 6.0 for starters....so check those facts that you're basing your opinions on....and second, who gives a **** if the 03 cobra is RATED at 390 fwhp, my car is stock heads/cam, naturally aspirated....and i pulled one pretty good from a 40 roll to about 110 WITH A PASSENGER AND THE T-TOPS OFF....so i'm not impressed with them at all. thank you....come again.

 

Since when is the 03 Cobra, or any Mustang since 1964 1/2 been FWD? Come on. Blind brand loyalty is one thing, but ignorance is inexcuseable. And the Lightning isnt @ 390hp either. If im not mistaken, its 380hp (and thats crankshaft hp, NOT rwhp)

And by how much did the Mach 1 beat the GTO? You're comparing two different cars here. Hell, the STi bested the 03 Cobra in a test in some magazine too, there's a small displacement turbo'd 4 banger vs a supercharged v8. You going to tell me the STi is a better vehicle cause it "beat" it in ONE test? Give me a break. The street and strip are two different arena's, just like magazine tests vs reality are. It all comes down to driver for the most part. Just because you own/drive the thing, doesnt mean you know how to use it to its full potential. Same goes w/ just about anything. Just cause you're on a Hayabusa doesnt mean you wont get walked by a 600 rider who knows how to handle his bike better.

 

that' FWHP idiot...or FLYWHEEL HORSEPOWER....as in, not the power rated at the rear wheels. and as far as street/strip goes....my car will WALK an 03-04 cobra HARD at the track as well as on the street. the cobra i raced had exhaust and a cold air kit of some kind...other than that i don't know. but it wasn't impressive at all. i do have a strong brand loyalty, that's because GM product are just far superior IN MY EXPERIENCE, mayb e not in your's though. but i would be more than glad to own an 04 white cobra with a pulley, chip, exhaust and a DP 100 shot.
