Default Replacing the parking break on an 02' chevy

I was just curious how hard this is to do? What is the price for new parking brake pads, and is it just easier to take it in? I have done this on my camaro but didnt know if it was simular. Just curious to about home much im looking at spending

It's very easy, basically the same as your Camaro.

Yea, it's a piece of cake, if you can do brakes and rotors, you can replace your e-brake shoes. Can't remember how much they cost though, it was a few years ago when I did mine. From what I remember there was only 1 retaining bolt with clip for each shoe...

Remove the caliper, the rotor and then your right there. Make sure you don't have an axle seal leaking and then just replace the shoes. There is a certain way you have to turn them to get them over the axle flange but it will work. I don't remember what side but the shoe isn't supported at all and just lays against the inside of the rotor and then wears the shoe down to nothing and then it never does work. Thats what happened to mine on the right side I think and the left side the axle seal leaked so I took the shoes off and trashed them, took the adjusters out and put the rotors back on, right or wrong. The parking brake never did work and now it deffinitely won't ever work. Not saying its the best thing to do but I didn't feel like hanging new shoes on it just to hang new shoes on it again.

thanks for the help im probalay gonna start that little project this weekend. I need to get it done before boating season gets here
