Default Replacing the BCM on '02 Silverado

Hey guys I've been looking for a thread on how to replace the BCM (Body Control Module) for my truck.

If you have any input, I'd appreciate it.

Thanks.. Lisa

I know that it's located on the driver's side, straight down underneath the steering column. I was able to access mine without removing the lower panel, but to replace it, I'd assume that removing that panel would make it a lot easier. Why are you replacing it Lisa?

Correct me if I'm wrong but replacing it would involve the dealer. I believe it is tied to the VIN.

If you are going with a new BCM from a dealer I believe that they program the vin into the new one for you. If you are going with a used BCM then you have to get it to learn the current theft deterant code with a process of a relearn which is to turn the key to the run position and the Securety light will flash and let go for 10min, turn the key off for 5sec and repeat. In all that process needs to be done three times for the BCM to learn the code and the truck should start and run.
