Default Removing screw with stripped head

Help, the bolt that holds my wheel caps on has a phillips head on it and I stripped it. The screwdriver will not grab anymore it is just a round hole. I think there may be a way using a drill but I am not sure. Someone please help before I have a flat or something. <img border="0" alt="[cheers]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_cheers.gif" />

is the screw recessed in a little bit?

1)take a punch or something and stick it in the middle of the screw and tap it with a hanmmer. this will some times loosen a stuck bolt. then try to push all your weight on the screwdrive and turn.

2)if it is not then you can use a dremal tool and grind a slot in the head so you can use a flat head screwdriver.

3) if screw is recesesed, i do not think a easy out will work because the screw is too small. last resort dtill it out in the center of the head to where the head falls off. drill bit would need to be a little bigger than the screw dia. and hopefily there is some of the screw sticking out of the wheel so tou can turn it with pliers.

Home Cheapo sells screw removal tools if the other ideas dont work. Is like a reverse threaded drill bit. First you drill a hol in the center of the screw, then you change tips on your drill to this new one, and drill it into the hole you just made. Then youjust reversethe drill, and itll spin right out.

It is recessed so I need the reverse drill kit. Thanks guys. Don't buy Optima wheels. The caps all do not seat right and they make a CLUNK every time the wheel makes a revolution and cruising with the windows down it gives you a headache.
