Thanks guys, I appreciate the feedback...

F8L - mind if I ask how much you picked the new truck up for?

One of the scenarios I've been tossing around is getting rid of the S-SS - buying a Jeep Wranger/TJ as a daily driver (good in the snow and all here), and getting a 2wd RCSB 4.8/5.3 to go nuts on.

I've been running some nice and "loose" part throttle shift points, and with my TCC lockup raised 10mph -- I put everything back to stock this morning, and mustered up a ~17mpg backroad drive to work which i

I get KR down low in the RPM range when I'm locked up, so I'm going to have to either pull some timing in a commonly accessed area of my timing table, or loosen up the TCC unlock a bit. I think it's because my cam is sleeping under 1,500rpm...

For now I may still be entertaining the idea of an STS - which would need I would need to swap cams, which would mean I can go with something strange like a 210/210 114-115 to get my extreme bottom-end back.

Sounds crazy that I'm worried about gas mileage when I'm thinking about dropping 4K+ on a STS. That's me!

It's not just the gas mileage thing I'm having cold feet on, but the idea of putting all this money into a heavy truck to make it do something it still won't be very good at doing. I'm just kind of thinking out-loud I guess...

Marc,

I paid $12.5k for it. Some will say I got reamed but it booked for $15 in my area so private party would be about $11.5 or so. I got it at a dealer so it wasn't too bad.

According to the driver information center - 14.4. That's with my heavy foot and all city driving. Good thing I don't ever go very far with it. I like to put the DIC on instant mpg and floor it. The milage drops right to 0 mpg!

On one highway trip I averaged 19. I was amazed.

That sounds pretty fair to me.

I almost puked last night when I found the KBB (trade in) value of my truck to be $19,000.

I'm really hoping that's wrong. My Avalanche was less expensive, with more miles, and I got more for it.

I got 18.5 mpg on the last tank, with a combination of stop and go, plus highway. Our traffic around here sucks. I have no doubt that it would be 20+ mpg if I was on the highway only.
