Default RCSB 4.8 combo

A friend of mine just picked up jdaven's truck he just sold and wants to do a few more things with it, cam, converter etc etc.... he wants me to spec a cam for him... he originally was thinking about an off-the-shelf TR220-112 and a 3200 converter... which would have been solid, but he wants something a little more tailored to what he likes... torque, and since the 4.8's arent known for making much tq I came up with a grind to help bring some of that back...This is what I came up with after some math... should work well on stock heads.

222/218 .581/.590 108-1 LSA
XE-R/XFI
Int lobe 3721
Exht lobe 3034

108 LSA
109 ICL

VEs @ .050:

IVO>2
IVC>40
EVO>36
EVC>2
107>ECL
4* overlap

Hows that look??? match that up tp a loose'ish 3000 stall or 3200... should make a stout street truck. Tuning wont be an issue. There's a guy here who does my tuning and will be doing his as well...

don't know much about the cam #'s (need to learn myself) but i'd say the reverse split should work out good for that engine. just make sure it has a good free flowing exhaust.

I'm loving the tight LSA for that little motor big split though for it. If it was me I would go for a 222/220 though. I was thinking about getting another RCSB project with a 4.8 and trying to push it to it's max. I was going to go with a single grind though 220/220 on a 110 lsa. I still might do this in the future. I like your thinking though

should be great just as long as he doesn't run into vacuum issues with that low of an lsa. I have brake "issues" every once in a while from my 0* overlap cam. I wonder what having a 108 lsa would be like.

well, since they know I'm getting out for sure now, I dont have much of a job so I sit and read a lot during the day... I have learned alot of new stuff the past few weeks/months Its the truck listed in the FS section by jdaven. a guy here that works with me bought it up and wants to mod it. I'm trying to get him to register on here but he'll never take the time to do it. LOL... I think the reverse split and the tight and slightly retarded LSA should work out really well and make that truck feel very solid all the way up to about 6200 RPM's, It has some 3.73's and he doesnt want to go bigger.

Kyle, I think the tight LSA's are going to start showing up more and more... Its the way to go IMO with a lot of different setups

Mark, the 4* overlap I hope will be enough to keep some vac.

My 110 lsa 4* overlap cam pulls in enough volume to where I RARELY have brake issues. They are a little soft but they stop me just fine. I think I remember when I had the street tune done after I installed the cam that I was actually pulling in close to stock vac.

BTW Ben I wouldn't be surprised if that cam made good power all the way up to 6500 rpms either. I definitely wouldn't go lower than a 3200 stall though with that tight of an LSA. Sure peak torque is going to be brought on ridiculously quick but it won't be making **** for horsepower yet most likely.

Should work really well. It'd really scream with some stock heads worked over a little to support that lift.
