Default Quick question about ext cabs

Whats the differences between the 1500 and 2500 Silverados? I have the 2500 and want to get a cab fwd so I can do mods to both the cab and engine with minimal down time to my DD.

Thanks for your time,

Tom

The differences in 1500 and 2500 are in suspension and drive train. Heavier duty springs, axles ext. Might be a little differense in frame to make it stronger. Body and int will be the same.

Ok thanks. Because I want to build a motor and other things and want to have very little changing when I transfer it to my DD.

Thanks for your response Chevy.

The 2500 has a taller frame , 2" .
Has a 14 bolt rear end
Larger rear leaf springs
Front control arms are different
Larger front Differential
Front bumper cap is larger than 1500 due to taller frame
8 lug pattern vs 6 lug

All sheet metal /cab /beds are interchangeable , no diff.

Hope this helps

If I build a turbo setup on a 1500 it would be a direct change over if I build it with the same motor that I'm going to put in my 2500. The reason I'm asking is that I can find wreckred 1500s a dime a dozen but no 2500s

Frame is also wider a decent bit as well you sure the cab mounts are in the same spot. The easiest thing to do is call a salvage yard and see if their hollander book shows the 2500 cab to fit a 1500. I'm with time believe they are the same but frame width may be a killer maybe not but worth looking into.

Nope the cabs are the exact same, the frames might be a bit wider but they just change the mounts of the frame to accomodate the cabs
