Post Questions about 99 Tahoe

1. Why does my Tahoe not go over bumps smoothly?

2. What type of exhaust is good for my Tahoe, I have dual exhaust now.

3. Why does my Tahoe have to run off 2 batteries?

It's a truck and the suspension wasn't built for comfort. You probably have worn out shocks and that would be adding to the problem. But even on a good day hitting a speed bump would be a lot rougher than hitting it in a luxury sedan.

Whatever exhaust you like. If what you have now works for you and you don't plan on much perfomance stuff, why change it? If you want different sound (louder) then you can put in any muffler from Flowmaster to Corsa. Depends on how much money you want to spend.

The batteries...well, it sounds like someone optioned it for the secondary battery on the passenger side. You don't *have* to have the second one, but it helps if you have a loud radio or lots of electrical accessories.

Ya that pretty much sums it up.

The Tahoe use to be a Washington State Patrol vehicle before I bought it.

That's why you have 2 batteries and that's also why the ride is so rough. It sits 1" lower than a normal Tahoe and has high performance rear springs and shocks. It's supposed to have more of a riding on rails feel than a barge in a big wind (although honestly, the Z56 packages weren't all that great).

If you haven't performed any maintenance on the suspension since you bought it, now is the time. Patrol vehicles have a BAD life, the average civilian vehicle travels 1/4 the distance in a year. I would recommend replacing all the shocks, the front damper pads and the rear bump stops.

As far as "chip" it won't have that, most likely it will have a factory tune in the PCM to allow it to reach 128mph.
