Z71's are heavy *** trucks compared to some extcabs...they are also affected (or is it effected ?) more by TqMgt for some reason. My truck was MAD slow stock, the tune really changed how it moves. Also the 285 AT's on there don't help it go faster either...these 4x4s should come with 4.10:1's stock and option for the 3.73:1 if you want those.

You ever considered going for an LT1 motor in your truck? That's an easy power upgrade there as the stock intake manifold doesn't suck so bad!

ya, isn't it because i got the shitty cams that year?

do you think that should be my next mod?

if so, how much would it cost for parts and would it be easy to do on my own?

My 2000 ECSB with 5.3 and 3.42 gears ran a 15.82 stock. Check my signature for the mods I have done and what it has run now. I have a Yank TT3000 that will be in by next weekend and I am hoping for mid 14's.

Tony's 01 GMC 5.3 ext cab ran a 15.7 bone stock with less than 2k on it.

'99 cams are just on a slightly more different LSA...duration and lift is the same...not enough IMO to warrant 15hp change. '99s are also far more detuned from the factory than 00+...I am pretty sure that the 15hp claim from GM between the model years came from PCM tuning. '99s have that false knock, very low timing at high RPMs, etc.

Do you have any tuning done to your PCM? One of the guys on LS1truck.com picked up ~2 sec after tuning his '99, he's got a ton of mods like ASM LTs, Yank 3K, ASP, etc...

no tuning done to the computer. the only thing i have done to the computer is use a programmer (HPP3). no custom tuning yet. that is a pretty costly job isn't it?
