Default Question for Tiburon or Chingon...

Have you guys driven your truck down in the motherland? I'm thinking of taking a vacation down there this december. How did your trucks run on their fuel? I know Mexico's fuel isn't the greatest but I didn't have any problems with my old truck. Thanks for any help.

I have put Mexican fuel on my truck but I avoid it like a plague. This one time I had to becuase I was runing on empty on the side of the border and just as I crossed I filled it with american fuel. I had no problems but I have heard very bad stories. I had no issues with it for that short time. If you must that kind of gas, go with the most expensive one.

ive taken my truck twice to zacatecas and jalisco. at the time i had the HPP3 with 87 tune. i was kinda scared of pingin so i filled up with 93 everytime.(they only have 87 and 93). the only problem i had the 1st time i went was that i got a "SERVICE ENGINE SOON" light came on. but went away after a day or so. i would recommend changing the fuel filter after u come back.

Sorry man. I only went as far as Ensenada in baja, but I filled up before I went so I had enough to make it back and fill up on this side. Good lobster in Puerto Nuevo
I would do what Tokez said and at least change the fuel filter after you get back.

Thanks for the input. Looks like I should plan on taking a good amount of octane boost to help out.

I have put gas in mexico once and swore I would never do it again. I am down there for 1 1/2 months every winter and as soon as I have a quart of fuel left I head towards Rio Grande City. It gives me the chance to go to the track in Edinburg too.

If you do gotta put fuel over there though get the "magna". Its only like freaking 4 bucks a gallon.

I'd be 3 hours from any big city and way to far from the border. In my old truck I ran their cheapest gas(cause there was nothing else available) and never had a problem. I'm going to have to figure something out though.
