Question on Stock navigation system.
I had one in my Tahoe and now feel that i really want one in my VMAX. I have the opportunity to get a used OEM unit for $450-$500. I was really looking at the Pioneer z120bt though. Only thing that sucks is that I don't think they are offering the rebate any longer and they go for around $900-$1000 I think.
Any advice on what I should do?
Has anyone went from stock to aftermarket navigation? If so, why, and what did you do with your stock unit.. I know the OEM unit has driving restrictions, but that alone wouldnt be enough to justify that kind of $$.

The expandability of an aftermarket unit is usually a big selling point for most people. I love the fact that I can add XM, iPod connectivity, HD Radio, a portable USB hard drive or flash drive, etc. etc to my Alpine system, which I have done both the iPod and XM. You can't do that with the factory system

Pioneer avic line is definitely a good line. If you plan on never running a big system or adding anything other than xm stock nav is fine.
I like the voice capability on the avics for the bluetooth dialing, and all of the expandability in terms of being to upgrade to way nicer than stock stereo systems.

Most I will do is add a back-up camera. Other than that, it's strictly for GPS use.. I dont really have a desire for a huge system. I do like the idea of adding memory, but that's a luxury I wouldnt use. Most of the stuff on my truck is a luxery that I have no need for (windshield washer heater in FLORIDA).. lol.. Anyway.
Should I stick with Stock? What kind of prices can I find on a stock unit?
