Default question about 05 gmc 4x4

The truck has 35,000 miles on it and just recently.Where the milage is it keeps saying service 4 wheel drive. I have looked in the service book and can't really tell what needs to be serviced or is this some kind of idiot light?

any help would be appreciated, Robert

Take it to the Dealer, it should still be under warranty!

yeah it's still under warranty...............I'm just one of those kind that would rather do it myself......but I might have to.I mean it runs fine but if you try and put it in 4wheel while it's saying service it wont go in.But then you can switch the truck off and crank it back up and it goes right in

The switch in the dash is a common failure, I replaced mine a few years ago. At the time, it was less than $50 from the dealer.

I had the same problem with my 04. I took it to the dealer and on the ticket, it says they had to reprogram the BCM for the transfer case. I can dig it out if you want a more technical answer.

It is a dummy light, it means get your 4wd fixed. In all probability you either need a selector switch or bcm or tccm reprogramed

ok I think what I'll do is just unhook the battery for a while and hook it back up.And if that don't work I'll tak it to the dealer.
