Default Power Fold Mirror Problem

I guess my driver's side mirror got folded in manually and now it will not move in or out when the button is pressed. You can hear the motor trying to do something but the mirror does not rotate in. I have attempted GM's recommendation to fix it according to the owner's manual which is to reset the mirrors by folding them in and out three times, and that didn't fix it.

When I tried to fold it in manually, about halfway folded in it makes a popping noise and then continues folding in with no problems. When it is extended out, it moves pretty freely. The wind doesn't move it or anything driving, but it takes very little effort to fold with a hand.

Does anyone know what it would take to fix it? Any info is appreciated.

Thanks

Try folding them in from the open position several times and then from the closed position several times. I've had a few trucks at the shop it took six eight times to get them to fold correctly,, other just needed the mirror replaced.

Alright thanks, I will try it a few more times. Just to make sure, you mean try folding them with the button right?

Correct. Try it full open five eight times. Then manually close and try the same procedure again.

Well, I tried it several more times, and the mirror was never able to fold by itself. I guess the motor or whatever the mechanism consists of is broken. Thanks for the advice though.
