Is it possible

they are probably HDs thats why... if its a 1/2ton ECSBs (ext cab short bed) which would make it a special model (SS, VHO, etc.) you wont find a RCSB (reg cab short bed) 6.0 from the factory

I would do an engine swap but im on a budget, im looking for my first vehichle ever (getting ready to turn 16). So Ill probably be looking for a 2500 Ec swb 4x2 with the 6.0 or would I have to get an SS to get that or can you get just a plain silverado. The truck would also be replacing a race car that me and my dad race together thats why im wanting the 6.0 or is it not that much faster than 5.3 if not i may consider the 5.3. How much can I expect to pay for one that has around 100,000 miles.

of course this is for the NBS (99-06)
RCSBs only ever came with 4.3 V6, 4.8 V8, 5.3 V8 and they only EVER made a RCSB 1/2ton
ECSB 1/2 Tons came with 4.3 V6, 4.8 V8, 5.3 V8 unless you get a Denali, SSS, VHO/Vortec Max then you can get a 6.0 in a 1/2 ton
RCLB (Reg Cab Long Bed) 3/4 Ton came with 6.0 V8, 8.1 V8 Big Block
ECSB 3/4 Tons came with 6.0 V8, 8.1 V8 Big Block
IF you know how to do the motor swap your best bet is to get what you want... get a RCSB which you can find dirt cheap, i sold my buddy a 01' RCSB 2wd 4.8 Silverado with 175k miles for around $5,500. you can probably find one wit a stripped down interior for around $8,000 with under 100k miles. I paid $9K out the door for my Sierra, 2wd W/T 4.8 RCSB
then make it easy on yourself if you dont know what your doing... go out, find a FULL PULLOUT 6.0 (01'+ cause of the crank spacer if you plan to stick with the 4L60E and 99-00 had iron heads) and drop it right in computer and all
all in all you can have this done depending on how much you wanna spend on the truck for under $10k VERY easily... you will not find very many decent mileage 3/4 tons for that
