Default plug wires

I am having a problem wit my plug wires getting burnt up with my lt headers. I have the OBX headers with the hump on the drivers side, and that is where the problem is. I have the fiberglass socks on them, and it still happens, so what can I do about it? Is there a certain brand that is more heat resistant than stock, or can I make, or buy a set that is longer to go around the header, instead of through it.

weird, 2 of my driver's side wires are actually touching my LT's and theyve been that was for about 2 weeks, no burning or melting at all.

I have a piece of fiberglass header wrap around the hump on mine and some cheap Mr. Gasket stuff on the plug wire. Been running that way for a while now and have not burned a plug wire yet. I also have a plug wire from an 8.1L to go around the hump cause they are an inch or 2 longer.

I too have the OBX headers with the hump. I also use the high temp plug wire protectors.
What I did to keep the wires from touching the headers was to take a piece of stiff copper wire and tie wrap it to the wires with clearance problems. That way I can mold the plug wires into the shape I need and keep them off the headers.

These are what I have on them now, and it lasted about 4 hours worth of driving.

That's a good idea, never thought of that one. I'll have to try it, thanks.

It doesn't matter what you put on the wires, if they are still touching the headers, they will burn.

Wrap the wire itself with header wrap twice. They can lay directly on the exhaust and they will not burn.

I did it all.
I put header wrap on the hump in the headers, I put a little bit of header wrap on the plug wires under the socks, I took a sock off of a wire on the other side that wasn't burnt and doubled up on the 2 problem wires, and I taped wires to the wires to keep them away from the headers. I also ordered another set of socks to replace the ones I took off, and to triple up on the ones by the hump. I hope I don't have any more problems with my plug wires.

By the way, header wrap is a lot more expensive($50) than I thought it would be.

If they are touching the header, they will eventually burn. If they are a millimeter off the header, they'll be ok. That's what I've learned from experience. The stiff wire sounds good, or the MSD's can be slightly bent so they don't touch.
