Default Pleasant surprise.

So I didn't have much to do today and decided to change my oil, and thought that while I was under there I'd go ahead and do the trans. fluid as well. Had a lot of fun making a mess in the campus parking lot, but anyway... I decided to try something different. I put my usual can of Restore in with the oil, but I changed up the oil and decided to spring for some Royal Purple. I also decided to tryout some B&M Trick Shift ATF and added some Lucas trans. additive to it. Fired my truck up and could instantly tell a difference. After everything cycled through I started on my drive to work and...

OH MY GOODNESS!!!

My truck has not run like this... ever. I had a big grin on my face all the way to work. I could barely feel it shifting, it was that smooth, and this is all with the original motor and trans. with about 214,000 miles on it. I think I finally found a good combo for my truck. Just thought I'd share.

I absolutely despite soft shifts. I like quick snappy shifts that you can feel in the seat.

As do I... but my truck has been shifting really rough, not firm, and has struggled a bit. So this is a massive improvement. Now, I have yet to take it out and stab it and see how it shifts... I'll probably find out after work.

Royal Purpal FTW! It's amazing how much better things run with just a fluid change.

How many times have you flushed your fluid?
If this is the first time. You better get another one lined up.

If you do it on a regular basis that's cool. I should probably throw some royal in mine next time.

Don't know how many times it was done before I got it. This is the second time I've done the trans, as far as I can recall. The last one wasn't too long ago.

Yeah. That's actually the reason why I haven't used it before, but I finally decided to spring for it.

I'm driving three hours home tomorrow, so we'll see how well it does.

hmm.. thats some stuff to think about. Hope its not just clearing all that gunk out and ur trans is about to call it a day :crossfingers:

A buddy from school put some Lucas trans stuff in his GTI to clean it out and his clutch started slipping, haha the gunk was keeping it together
