Default piston slap

Hey guys, I have a 2001 rcsb chevy with a 5.3 and it has wicked piston slap.
Like this truck sounds like a real **** box. Is there any type of truck out there that doesnt have this crap. It could be a ford, dodge, nissan, toyota I dont care or do they all have this ?

My truck sounds horrible for about a minute after I start it up, and if I put it into drive bufore a minute or two and take off it sound like a diesel truck..

anyone know of any additives that helps during the cold starts?
how about that Lucas oil additive, is that **** any good? would it maybe help?

i dont think there are any additives for it, its just because when its cold the metal is smaller so its got more play in it until it heats and expands. you should probably buy a block heater if its that bad. my truck sounds like a diesel all the time. i would trade you in a heart beat. stupid lifters....

Some of these engines do it and others don't. Mine has 23K and hasn't made that noise and hopefully won't start. I guy here has a '00 5.3 (with about 37K miles) and his doesn't do it.

I think it's only with this newer generation of engines that came out in '99. Older GM engines didn't do it and it certainly can't be compared to other makes(ie: Ford,Dodge,Nissan etc.).

i have never seen a 99 and up gm v8 truck or suv that didnt do it. My dad has a 99 z71, mom has an 04 yukon mine is a 00 z71, all of them do it. We even bought the yukon brand new and with 25k miles on it it did it.
