if you have the time and money... than do it. I guess there are limitations to everything.. if you break into the 9's in a completely streetable truck. Than thats your limitation there... you can worry about catching JLP when you have a truck comparable to his... or in the same class as his,ya know?

i mean, ya it'd be sweet to say.. "look at my street truck devour your drag truck" but at the same time... look at what you just said, you can build a drag truck that would whip anyone's ***. So you just need to figure out what you want to do.

If you do end up getting rid of this truck... what did i hear about a colorado? That would be an awesome little drag truck. I see a sub 3800 lb. 8 sec. truck in your future, lol.

i am not sure but i might be geting close to the hp limit for a street driven iron block gen3. we are talking 1200+fwhp right now. how much harder can i push it even with a perfect tune and not have to work on the motor all the time. i switch back and forth on what to do with the truck. i might just work for my 9's and then dial it back and drive it or sell it, or......

i guess the first question for me is would this motor hold ~1500fwhp and 5000+miles a season without needing work all the time(assuming a perfect tune and the best gas). the rest of the truck could be built to take the power.
My guess is JL is less than 4000 lbs. but is probably 200 horses short of your output. This with being a pure drag truck setup accounts for his 9.5x times. Now if you were to drop down to 4200 lbs. with a 2wd setup, beefier rear with good gearing and slicks and keep your engine combo as is, I believe you could take over the #1 spot. A 12 bolt rear with pro gear, spool, and 33 spline axles can do the job for you without adding a considerable amount of weight.

I'll even donate $100 to the cause and I bet a few more around here would also!

i don't see parish catching him really since they are two completely different designed trucks. the same kind of thing happens with my boss' quad, (picture is in my picture trail) in the dunes he pretty much never loses. if he races quads that are designed around being only ran at the track he will find some that beat him. jim's truck is more designed around being a great street racer than a track vehicle. if you lined the two up on an unprepped street surface that isn't exactly perfect blacktop or clean concrete the 4wd is going to shine over the 2wd drag chassis truck. once you get beyond the 11 second boarder you have to build your setup for one use or another. either way it's something that's more than just sticking some tires on. jim's is designed to be street driven and raced. i wouldn't expect to see much street time in that lightning. i also wouldn't expect to see it be able to tow it's own rescue trailer and still get 14mpg. two different worlds, two different trucks. i'd take the street driven ride anyday. i'd be interested in seeing the quickest street lightning run him though.

that is well put and straight to the point we r talking about to different animals.it would never happen but let bth race on the track then block off a road with a street light and let them rip and see the difference.

i have followed this comparison for a while and have never really been into it.
i guess im into the street seen too much and i think the track is all good but, pulling up next to a zo6 ferrari viper lambo, or any exotic or fast car and being able to smack *** in a daily driven vehicle that was designed to never exceed 100 mph and just do grunt work is the best. i love seeing ppls faces after i win. they are like WTF.
but anyways
another opinion
switching to a colorado would take away the cool factor imo,
mini trucks are allready there guys, s-10s have been in single digits for years,
like everyone says its all relative.
I think that JLP has a badass truck\
but in my opinion i love seeing hustling, and who are you hustling when you pull up next to a guy in your chop topped(i herd he did that) truck with slicks and skinies and the rest of the hardcore stuff?
i ask myself this would i line up next to JL? hell no that truck looks scarey fast
would i line up next to parish? hell yeah i would think it was nothing with just Dr's and vertually no body mods,(except for a cage) then i would be scratching my head after he pounded me.

my 2 cents

Hey Jim, I say we trade trucks. I'll keep my drivetrain and you keep yours. That way you could hide the roll cage inside the truck. Plus my rear end is already done with 4.10's and Detroit locker, all with lifetime warranty.

What's the reasoning behind not allowing sub 10 second 4wd's?
