Yeah, pulling his own pit trailer.

9.5's will be hard to attain launching in 4wd... tub it out and throw some slicks on there and maybe Jim will be within reach... also, does anyone know the weight difference btw jim's and JLP's trucks?

What a crock of ****. Parish was/is my inspiration to get picked on by all my 4wd buddies. Im the only one around with a lowered Z-71. Oh well Im still in the 13's all motor. Trying for 12's all motor.

I have complete faith that Jim will be able to run well into the 9's. the whole 4WD thing is a crock. I think AWD or 4WD vehicles have a distinct advantage when it comes to traction. I think it is great that at almost normal weight and being a driver he is almost 9's. I say run wrinkle slicks on all 4 corners and put some driveshaft loops in front and back and run'em. The NHRA should have a separate class for them if they want to segregate the 4WD guys.

i dont think i will ever catch JL. my recent attempts to get into the 9's is starting to show me how hard it is to get 5000lb's to run that fast. things will only get harder. 4wd is not an advantage at the track. many trucks with just slicks and caltracs can get better 60' times than me. 4wd kicks *** on the street and is a lot of fun. i am glad i went that route but right now trying to get into the 9's i know i would be there if it were 2wd and i had worked that set up.
i am not sure but i might be geting close to the hp limit for a street driven iron block gen3. we are talking 1200+fwhp right now. how much harder can i push it even with a perfect tune and not have to work on the motor all the time. i switch back and forth on what to do with the truck. i might just work for my 9's and then dial it back and drive it or sell it, or......
i might toss some big twins on there. yank the 4wd stuff and put on some big slicks and a beefy rear end. if i could drop 500lb's and add another 250hp to the wheels i would be knocking on the doors to 8's.
i guess the first question for me is would this motor hold ~1500fwhp and 5000+miles a season without needing work all the time(assuming a perfect tune and the best gas). the rest of the truck could be built to take the power.

parish is powering 4 wheels. that is bad ***.
Jim drives home- that is bad ***.
It certainly doesn't take away from ANYTHING those guys are doing- but I think its silly to compare the two. Both have done great things with their trucks.
There is a dude Rich Krause doing stupid fast (10s last i saw) on a 10 sec LT1.
whats so special about that? 6spd. Ok, cool, but so what?
It passes emissions, no tricks. Wow!
The extra "limitation" some people impose make their vehicles very interesting- so long as that "limitation" is for a purpose.

Parish- I'd say yank all the 4wd stuff and run caltracs. I feel confident that you can hook it with caltracs. With the extra weight off the front end you will transfer weight much better. There are cars running well into the 9's if not lower with them.
You can't pull a 18' trailer with a Colorado....at least not safely.

I think what Parish is saying is that there are numerous potential weak points that could creep up and cost a fortune to make better, especially if he went to 2wd and slicks. Despite the new LSD and gears, an axle could snap and wreck the brakes, the built 80E has a limit, and there's always a rod/crank/piston worry at that level of hp.
