in my quest to find 285/50/18 goodyear eagle gtII tires i have come up almost empty. the majority of places claim they don't exist, most places don't stock them, and the ones that stock them want an arm, a leg, and my left nut for them.
but i have found a lot of places that have pirelli scorpion zero in that size. i was wondering if any of you guys have opinions on them. how's the traction, treadwear, and look?

I have no personal experience with them but several people(tire guys) have told me to stay away from them. The traction is good but the treadwear is horriable. One guy here in town had them on his truck and wore the back ones slick in no time. Tirerack has the Dualer HP for a few bucks cheaper than the Scorpions and they are supposed to be an excelent tire(I almost went with those over my Yokos) If you really want the GTII try Sears. They had a pretty good price on them a while back. The nitto 404 would be another one to consider. Good luck gettin the tire you want. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" />

i think im going to run a nitto 404, treadwear on them is rated to be pretty good.
285/50 in the back and 255/55 up front or maybe a little wider up there....
could one run a 285 up front?

nitto 285/50 treadwear 420 traction and temp are both A's.
went to discount tire today to try to find some damn wheels (eagle alloys, less money on good looking wheels, more money on HP)
and they told me 174 or there abouts for the 285/50s.
i believe that is the tire i will be getting, looks pretty good, good treadwear, and unidirectional...
check discounttire.com for differences in price etc.

sounds like a good tire. i'm sure the actual contact patch on the nittos is bigger than the GYs too. i'll keep those in mind for when i need them down the line.
