Default Opinion on a '99 RCSB 4x4 GMC Sierra

Long story short, I have a chance to pick up a '99 RCSB 4x4 for $800. It has a 4.8, auto, push button 4x4 and power windows and locks. It has 220k on it, but it runs and drives just fine, its the kids daily driver. Has new u-joints on the front shaft and new fluids in the front and rear diff, and t-case. 4x4 works great, cluster has steppers replaced and works fine, windows and locks are perfect as well. Starts on the first try and shifts just fine through the gears.. Body needs rockers but the rest of it is pretty solid, but that is pretty minor since its a project and I can take care of the body work a little it at a time over the winter/spring.

Plans are to gut the truck basically and start from scratch... it will be a project over the next year or so. 4/6 drop, TBSS 20s, built 6.0 with trans and rear end, leather interior with console, Paint the frame and everything underneath, body work and paint. Just a nice daily/weekend truck that I can haul stuff with, but still have fun with when I want to.

Ive seen worse trucks go for $2500 or more easily. Worst case, I could clean it up, fix a few things and sell it for at least double what I paid for it..I have the space and time to fix it up over the winter..

Do you think its a decent deal? Its in rough shape, but everything works and its a RCSB, which is hard to come by up here..I think for $800 its too good of a deal to pass up..

Sounds like a pretty good deal to me. See if you can get it for cheaper, if not $800 aint a bad deal for a running 4.8L with 4WD drivetrain.

ya im gonna try to get him down a bit, he told me 500 this summer, then tried to sell it at a normal price, but he needs the cash now so i can hopefully get him down

I think im gonna be able to get it for $750. Gonna fix the rockers and get the body straight and prolly plasti dip it for now. Get the interior cleaned up and just do little things from there. Brakes are all new on it along with fluids..

Holy ****. You're going to counter an $800 price for a good running full size v8 4x4? Lol, ok. Imo, you better make a move quick. That truck would be sold in less than 8 hours around here with that price. Hell I would buy w/o any use for it. Imo, the 99-02 body style is one of the best looking full sizes chevy ever made.

You can make most of the $800 back by selling the stock parts you're wanting to swap out.

lol the kid has been trying to sell it to me for about a year..first said $400, then 2500, now i got him at $750 so I should be picking it up this week lol..

Got a buddy whos got a project going as well so we are gonna have a body work get together this winter and do the rockers and any other rust..I plan on just plasti dipping it until i get it done to where its worth painting..I have about 30 cans sitting in the garage so i should be good to go lol

Has the tailgate it just needs new hinges, has new door handles to put on, new brakes all around and new u joints..its a 4.8 with an auto and 3.73 gears

O ya, he wants to keep the brushguard lol

Oh darn he wants to keep the the brush guard. It look's cheap on there any way. I am guessing its bolted to the bumper???

What a steal..I know exactly what you mean about finding a RCSB around this area. I searched for months before I just decided to get one from Missouri.
