Default Ok to tow 86 c1500

Hey. I wonder to see if it will be allright to tow 1986 C1500 Chevy truck 4x4 with 39" tires on it. I want to know if it will hurt my truck since my truck is 2006 Silverado 1500 5.3. I afraid if things will hurt my tranny or engine if I tow those truck 1986 c1500. I think we are going to use 4 wheels trailor. Which is more safe? If it is ok to tow. So which should I stick with 2 or 4 wheels trailor? We are from Ga. Plan to get that truck in Florida.

You will be fine, don't drive like a ***, use sense.. If you tow it use a strap, not a chain, but not for that far of a trip..If you have a trailer like ya said use that.. A tandom trailer would tow better then a single axle. Or you could get a dolly.

Use your Tow/Haul mode and don't use OD.

I hauled a 3/4 ton chevy truck with a Workbed full of tools and a winch with my s10 blazer 4x4 4.3. My springs where pissed off but It did it.

My truck is 1/2 ton you say i cant use OD button on on trans shift? Now you made me worry! Last time I went Texas Dallas with uhual trailor with full of furinate move to TX for my friends. I was use OD all the way for like 12 hours! I didnt know that if I not suppose to use OD. I wonder if I tow a truck I still cant use OD button like the cluster will show light on (tow)??

Put it in third and push the button on the end of the shifter. You will be fine

The Tow/Haul just changes the stall and shift points so you keep momentum. Using OD with a uhaul with furniture is fine. Your talking about hauling a truck that probably weighs over 2 ton. thats a lot different than a trailer of furniture.

3rd gear, tow haul on and head on out.

Oh okay. At first you say dont use OD and just run 3gear shift? Now you say need run 3gear and tow button. Which is one way to use more safe and no hurt tranny. It will take 6 hours to drive one way to Florida to pick up Truck then another 6 hours one way back to Ga. We plan to stay there one night. To get rest for my truck before we able go back to GA.

The furinate uhual was PRETTY heavier because load of bed full and in uhual trailor a little long. Which make my truck bed pretty lower. Thats why I got freak out after you say no use OD. But I did ran od tow button for 12 hours. Last July. But my truck was fine so far.
