Default Oil Pressure Low

Ok guys I recently had Damaged my head valves on a bad timing on the chain, well I put another set of 317's put some new lifters and a ls2 timing chain, I turned the truck on and everything looks to be fine engine doesnt shake or anything no noise but my oil pressure is slow like at around 30, the only different thing I did was that I took my 3200 converter off and put my original back on.... could the low oil pressure be because of the original converter in other words the "Tune" and I also forgot to mention I have a ported oil pump that I bought a month ago!!!!! and this is on a LQ4

30 at idle doesn't sound too bad...but since you replaced the timing chain and oil pump I'd be considering a possible problem with the oil pump pickup tube o-ring. A few guys have had problems with either the o-ring splitting, shifting, or being too small. I believe that the correct o-ring should be red, while the common problem one is blue...

The red one is the correct (new?) one. I just put a ported pump on mine. I get about 40 psi at low idle (800 or so) and will just about peg the gauge at high RPM.

I pinched the O-ring my first time. Make sure the O-ring is PERFECT before you put it on the pickup tube, and put vaseline all around it.

Torque converter or tune will not affect oil pressure.

Are you getting any ticking? Usually number 7?

So nothing will happen if I keep driving it like that?? because usually when im going at around 50 or 60 mph the pressure is at 40 but once I slow down or get to a stop sign the pressure goes down to 32 ............ what do you mean by ticking bro???

check the o ring can't hurt but depends on mileage my 07 with 50k on it with 5/30 oil run about that.to much oil pressure also can hurt.

Upon first start up mine will run 50-55psi at idle. Once it warms up it runs 45psi at idle, about 60psi at highway speeds and about 70-75psi at WOT. This is an 02. The newer engines apparently run higher psi.
