Default Oil pressure

Ok guys I need a little input on this. Did a lq4 swap on my truck this weekend and oil pressure seems a little low to me. I'm seeing 25 to 30 max at idle and 35 to 40 max cruising about 2200 rpm's down the freeway. I'm still breaking it in so I don't want to hammer on it just yet. I did hit it once and ran it up to 5k and it barely made it over 40. I was very careful going in with the new o-ring cuz I know there have been alot issues with that. Is this normal? I'm used to seeing 40 at idle and 60 at wot on my crammed 4.8. This is driving nuts and I know it's above minimum spec but still driving me crazy.

Seems pretty low. Old rule of thumb is 10psi per 1000rpm at least according to old schoolers

Mine idles at 65-70ish, cruise 70ish, WOT 80+

What oil pump did you use? Are you getting your psi reading from the cluster or a scan tool?

I thought it was low cuz of the old schoolers rule cuz that's what I was taught. Factory oil pump I went cheap and reused like a dumbass. I pulled it apart and there was hardly any wear on it is the only reason. I'm reading it off the gauge I didn't have a scanner to check it with at the time but I am gunna check with one before I pull it back down

My high mileage 5.3 at idle was 50+, put in an 07 lq4 with 17,000 miles, took my performance oil pump out of 5.3 and in to my lq4 with my cam, and for the last year it idles at 25-30 and wide open 50-60. it doesnt fluctuate, it hasnt gotten worse, and motor seems to be just fine. I put a scan tool on it and it read 8-10 psi higher than guage. I try not to worry about it, and ive put 15-20,000 miles on it with this pressure and several drag strip trips.

X3 on the scan tool. I've seen a couple times when the scan tool reads correct pres. when the gauge was low.

To be sure i would deff put a mechanical guage on it and get a reading, that would be the most accurate.. If your cluster is close/correct, your oil pressure is alittle low.

Seems a bit low. Mine hot idles at 34 psi. You should see a lot more than 40 at wot..

What has been done to this motor? Is it stock clearances?
