Oil leak?
#1
well i was looking under my truck a month ago and noticed it was wet on the fly wheel cover and near the drain plug area. so i cleaned it off real good and looked again and there it is again. the tell tell signs of a rear main seal leak not enough to drip on driveway but enough to see on rear of oil pan. is this covered by the 100,000 mile drive train warranty? 07 siverado. i think it is ,just wanna confirm it. if i take my truck in should i take my tune out and put stock back in? thanks

That should be covered under your warranty...I'd take the tune out if you can, just to be safe. You never know if the dealer is going to notice that there is a PCM update for your truck and try to re-flash it (especially now with business being slow).

Damn, you already took it in? I was gonna tell you to pull over a block away from the dealership and squirt a half quart of used oil in the leaky area so that it looks 100X worse than it really is and drips all over their shop floor when you drive up.

neil lmao! you know i thought of that also.. but its being covered right now.. should be done by noon tomorrow.. the problem oil pan gasket. under warrenty!!! yes! now i am very pleased that gm is 100% behind there "100,000" drivetrain warrenty. i have 66,000 miles and thought i would have some sort of problems trying to get it fixed.. i guess bill heard was the only place that gave me problems...on warrenty work. very happy siverado owner right now!!! one more thing truck runs like crap without the tune!!! so wait4me does help alot with the performance on my truck.

Be prepared to take it back in to the dealer.......I had the same leak back in the spring. It looked to be coming from the oil pan gasket near the starter, running down the oil pan and bell housing. That was the first item the dealer replaced under warranty. A week later the leak came back. Another trip to the dealer resulted in them performing the repair campaign for the rear main seal/engine cover TSB. Another three days later, and my driveway looking like a Leopard, the truck went back for the third time with a very pissed off owner. Again there was oil all over the pan. The final fix was replacing the gasket where the oil cooler lines connect to the oil pan.
Check and see if your dealer replaced the oil cooler line gasket...they are supposed to replace it when they drop the oil pan. They never replaced it originally on mine, which lead to alot of unnecessary work.

well i did look under yesterday and wiped off some excess oil.. drove around and it seems its all gone.. just went and bought a can of degreaser gonna go clean it up real nice and drive it around this weekend and see if it stopped. i called the dealer back and asked why was there oil still visable near the oil pan. he said its left over oil from before. so i said well then how do the techs know the problem was fixed if they didnt clean it up real good???? told me to take it back.. they only repalced the oil pan gasket.. man seems to me this dealer does the same ole **** like always. they fix something dont check to see if its fixed a return it to the owner!
