Default Oil change question

So my truck is finally due for its first oil change. I am gonna take it into the stealership to have them change the oil, filter, rotate tires, and look at a squeak I'm getting in the rear, and wash the damn thing. Anyway, my question is : what oil should I put in this thing? I've always been of the mindset to do synthetic, and stick with it. Better oil, better longevity and protection. But according to the talking head in the service dept, GM recommends some synthetic blend. What would you do?

Oh, if you can't see my sig, this is a 2011 ccsb 4x4 6.2L 6L80E

Seriously? Nobody has any input on this? Not even brand preference?

Id say run Rotella t6 5w40 and a wix filter.

ITs a real good oil that will keep the insides real clean!!

If you don't like the stealership you can always use jiffy lube or walmart

Put in what you want. Mobil 1 is fine. It is dexos 1 approved and that is GM's new standard.

if your thinking about taking your vehicle to jiffy lube or walmart just do yourself a favor and go to the closest handicapd center and pick 3 or 4 people to do it ,youll be much better off, on a side note they want dexos or equalivent for warrenty. im partial to mobile 1 across the boad.

i like mobil1 personally but it's hard to wrong with any quality brand oil. generic stuff i'd shy away from if it's something you care about but that's me.

yes the 6.2 requires the synthetic blend as per the dealership. i forget the name of it but it's made by castrol, have to check my receipt. i usually do all my maintenance but with this truck its free oil changes for life.
