Well the Vortec Max finally broke the 3000 miles, wondering what oil i should use and grade?
The 5.3 is at 6000 miles, what oil and grade for it also?
Any recomandations?

I use castrol 10-40... I have run it in every chevy I have owned... never a problem. the only thing I may change is going to be switching to Syntec.... Castrol oil is some good stuff though IMO...

No, really depends. Dino oil is fine for normal driving if you routinely change every 3-5K miles.
I dont drive normal I swear by Mobil 1 for the added protection on cold starts and heat resistance.

BTW Syntec is not a full synthetic.

yeah, I know... its great oil though. I have ALWAYS used it in my bikes and all of my trucks with zero oil related problems. Castrol does have a fully synthetic oil though I believe

I run Valvoline or Castrol GTX, the oil is out by 3500 miles or so. Make sure you run the long filter with whatever oil you choose.

What is the difference between the filters? Do you have a part #?
