Default OEM Fog lights

Hello all! New to the forums. Just bought my 2000 RCSB 5.3 Silverado today. Front clip is currently halfway done with the HD conversion (needs paint) and figured now would be the best time to add OEM fogs from the Z71 Tahoe. From what I have read all you need is the valance, fogs, OEM harness, cargo/fog button (currently just have cargo), relay and possibly a stealership re-program? Anyone have any experience with this? I was also interested in installing the 2003-2006 headlight switch with the option to disable the automatic headlights by turning it backwards (my 03 Yukon has this) and if anyone knows if this will all be plug and play it would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Also if this has been asked a million times I apologize... tried searching and couldn't find much detailed info on either the fogs or headlight switch.. but I could have been typing in the wrong keywords...

Almost certain you don't need any programming for adding the fogs. The guys over on the SS forums are finding they just install and go. Many have found the wiring already in place, too, but that may not be the case for your 2000. It's there on my 06 SS, I added the switch, and have plugged lights up to test them - working fine. Just gotta get around to making the brackets since it's a small custom job to install them on an SS.

What trim level was your truck? I'm surprised it didn't have fogs from the factory already?

I saw somewhere saying the 03-06 had the wiring/programming but couldn’t find an answer about the 99-02 so I’m not sure. Also, I bought the truck with the front end disassembled so I need to complete re-assembly before I know if I have any extra factory harness plugs possible for the fogs. If not I found a harness online that has a pin (positive) that goes in the factory location on the fuse box, a ground and the 2 plugs for $75. The truck is a LS. I actually got the
original window sticker with it

The 99-02 were not equipped with fog lights unless ordered that way from the factory. You won't find wiring taped up anywhere unless it actually had the option.

The dealer sold a kit the to add fog lights. (It's been discontinued) It stated in the instructions that programing would be required to activate it. Some Up level trucks already had the option enabled in the programing.

There not overly difficult to wire up. But you will need the switch or you will have to wire one in.

Other option is to pull a headlamp harness that has them from a 99-02 truck or SUV originally equipped with fog lights. You may still need the BCM programmed to activate the option.

I ordered the factory cargo/fog switch last night. I may just go ahead and buy that harness and just pin it into the pcm and have it programmed... thanks for the info! Anyone know anything about the newer (03-06) headlight switch being comparable with the 99-02? I like the option to be able to turn off the headlamps without shutting the truck off

99-02 Press the dome override button in and out 3 times and the lights shut off.

The 03- up is wired different, different plug I believe.

Just need to order the parts to do it. need the fog light switch inside the cab, need fog lights of course. I did one for my buddy and i wired power from the fog lights inside the fuse box under the hood, then ran a ground from each fog. took like an hour to do a nice clean install, extremely easy. Didnt have to program anything. Did one on an 2000 likes yours and did one on a 2006 single cab. Both easy

Good to know on hitting the dome over-ride 3 times in a row! Thanks! And I’ll be giving it a shot here soon. Currently trying to convince myself the shipping price from GMPartsDirect is worth it since I’m ordering a whole bumper
