is this o.k?
I plan on doing the mods in this order.
1. Shift kit
2. Torque converter
3. Gear swap from 3.73 to 4.10
4. Cam and spring swap
5. tune with 100% tm removed
Mods 1-4 will take about a month as different mechanics are doing the installs.
My question is; Do I run the risk of doing damage by driving my truck until I have the new pcm installed? I know my truck is not going to run smooth. I plan to have the pcm shipped, so I will have it in hand before the cam and spring swap, however, there will be some time between 1st mod listed and the new pcm is installed.
Thanks

Do you mean "other than the cam"
I plan on taking it easy till the pcm is installed. I just don't want to risk damaging anything till it is installed. I'm not too experienced in this stuff. By the way, I don't drive much at all (maybe 15 miles a day - if I have to).

Going from 3.73's to 4.10's is worthless. I'm speaking from experience. You will notice no "seat of the pants" difference. What you will notice is that your speedometer is off about 4mph and your cruising rpm is slightly higher. That little of a difference in gear ratio is not worth the time or money to change.

I did not expect "seat of the pants" difference. However, if .1 or .2 is lost in the quarter, that is not bad. There are alot of guys who would give their left ******** to lose that much (maybe).

Well I didn't lose the time in that sense. I went from 16.5 to 16.1 in the 1/4 going from 3.42's to 4.10's, after a few more mods i was running 15.3 with the 4.10's then I put the 3.73 gears in it and went 15.59 so I changed them back and went the usuall 15.3 same mph with 3.42,3.73,4.10's if you never change a mod your mph will stay the same you will just get there quicker. Oh yeah this is with my old ecsb 4.8.
