I bought Edit less than a month ago, I have had the cable sitting in my garage/shed next to my "shop computer", my neighbor came over to have a few beers yesterday, he brought his dog along (which is normally cool...I like the stinkin beast)...well, he (the dog...not my neighbor) was roamin around in the garage looking for something to chew on and apparantly found the cable in top of a cardboard box.....he chewed through the cable and mangled the "box" , it doesn't work anymore at all and I haven't even actually programmed anything with it yet
will Carputing replace a damaged cable if I call them ???.....or can you build this thing from parts like you can an AutoTap cable ( I have a little electronics knowledge...just enough to be dangerous)

 

Thats sucks, hopfully they wont charge you another 550 bucks for another cable!

That sux! Maybe you can cut and splice everything back together or have a computer shop repair it. What did the guy say? Are you guys pissed at each other?

If the actual electronics, ie the box, is OK, you can use your autotap cables with it. I do it all the time.
BTW.. that sux!

 

I thought maybe the dog really ate it and you were gonna have to follow him around for a while. Carputing should replace it if you wipe it off good before you send it back.

 

so....don't EVER break your LS1Edit box and cable !!

Carputing will not replace the box.....no matter what, if the box is damaged (which it is...almost beyond recognition) you have to buy a new copy of Edit to get a new box....

Oh well, what's another $500 in the quest for glory....right

Everytime you're over at your neighbors house walkout with some small item. Pawn them and keep doing that until you get your $500 back.

Seriously though, did the neighbor offer any money for what his dog did?? I would have at least offered to pay for it.

That's kinda BS that carputing won't replace the box. I wouldn't expect free replacement but, paying for a whole new setup is rediculous. They could just have you ship the bad one back so they know you're not trying to scam them. It's not like the parts for the box cost $500. Oh well, I'm going to stop ranting.
