Re: this is not a joke.....my neighbors dog ate my LS1Edit Cable
yea..I am a little pissed, but not too bad because he is my best friend, and I did let the dog roam around in there even knowing that the cable was out in the open and that the dog likes to chew on EVERYTHING
as for sending it back to Carputing.....even if I hadn't thrown it away because I was pissed (my mistake, but not too big of one I found out) it would have done me no good because they won't do anything with it if it is destroyed (the dog managed to chew the case in half, break the circuit board, and chew through at least one IC chip before I realized what he was doing (he had the thing for almost 2 hours...I was pretty drunk)

No, I don't think so. The EDIT box has some unique built in security features. The software must see the correct box or it will not work from what I understand.
Sorry, I think your stuck paying $500 for a new license.

Somebody needs to figure how to hack into this stuff. Maybe what I am suggesting is unethical but they (carputing) have had the monpoly on this stuff for too long and if they are gonna be jerks and not offer some assistance on the "doggie box" then I don't have a prob with someone pirating their stuff. Has anyone tried this?

someone open up their "box", take a good high-res digital pic of the contenets (both back and front of the circuit board with IC chip part #'s visible), or post an electronics-standard schematic and e-mail it to me and I will build a new one (and post a schematic so others can do this too)
I would do this now except for the fact that the circuit board in mine is in about 3 pieces and chewed to hell

Carputing does not have you as a customer. That is why they will not help you. You have never purchased anything from them.
You claim to have purchased LS1Edit off of Ebay. Got a link to the auction? You do not know who you purchased from though.
And you threw away the evidence that you ever bought anything.
Cables HAVE been destroyed in the past, and Carputing HAS been able to take care of their customers. They DO replace cables. But cables that don't exist, from a customer they've never heard of? Please.

Yelo - I contacted the maker of the cables who also is a moderator on this board. It seems there may be a little more to the story than originally posted.
I don't like some practices Carputing has but, if they didn't sell you LS1Edit then you didn't get a real/useable copy most likely. If so you should be going after the person you bought it from and not Carputing.
