no PS X2 after Burnouts
2004 Yukon Denali no power steering after a burnout this is the 2nd power steering pump I’ve replaced.
Got the truck a few weeks ago did a nice standing burnout no problems brakes worked fine. During the brake stand I felt the ABS trying to fight me in the brake pedal which was weird. Soon after I lost all power steering at idle turning the wheels both ways. So I decided to replace the power steering pump assuming it was old and worn out truck has 223000 miles on it. New pump installed all is well power steering is back to normal no issues. Today I do another brake standing burnout and feel that same pedal feel with the ABS trying to fight me and again same symptoms lost all power steering turning the wheel and pump chirping sound on the brand new pump I installed. I’m not sure if it’s an issue with the abs system over powering the pump from it being interconnected with the hydroboost system or I should be running a different pump or some type of proportioning valve mod.

To have the truck sit completely still and do a long length burnout (5 seconds or more) I don't see how it would be possible without the use of brakes. Or maybe blocking the front tires to keep the vehicle from rolling forward.

If this is a hydroboost truck I would wager that the pedal sensation you feel is the pump generating pressure for the brakes and the reason the pump is dying is that it's being over spun while working too hard
don't know what you can do about it. Swap to a non hydro setup if burn outs are really your end goal lol
if it's not hydro, can't help you: just a fluke maybe. Pull the ABS fuses next time you try

When the manual swap was done it was converted to selectable 4wd. It has no issues spinning the tires except the power steering pump dies 😂.
Both my RCSB and Tahoe have hydroboost and I stand on the brakes to do a sitting burnout. I never have any issues with the PS pump but I don't believe either truck has ABS.
Pulling the ABS fuse is probably the next step. Also going to compare the PS pump for a Denali to a Tahoe and see if the part number is the same or not. Maybe something internal is different 🤷*♂️.
