A 5 year old truck with only 5000 miles?? I'd be asking some questions like what was it doing for the last 4.9 years? Could have the cluster changed, no?

I would'nt go that far. Never driving a vehicle and not properly storing it, over time, it could be worse than driving an average amount of miles with proper maintainence. You have to maintain a vehicle that is rarely driven differently than one that is driven all the time. Being an 02, I dont think you have much to worry about as long as it hasnt been sitting around for 4 years without any maintanence done to it. Which I doubt.

LOL, isn't that kinda harsh?!? 5,000 miles for an '02 truck is not ordinary. I would run a vehicle history report on it. Maybe the owner is a military member who got deployed frequently...or maybe the truck is a complete lemon. There could be alot of reasons why the mileage is so low. 5K miles is still showroom new for our engines! Good luck, hope it turns out OK for you.

" my dad is freakin retarted!" haha im gonna ask him why the miles are so low, but he says that he changed the oil like every 1000 miles which is about every year with mobil one. and the engine looks excellent, very very clean. well thanks guys keep the advice coming

I'd say go for it, sounds like a fair price on what sounds like a good truck. I would also ask the salesman if he can get the truck into the shop, up on a hoist to check out the undercarriage......just for piece of mind. There's an '03 reg cab short box 2wd, 4.8, 5 speed at a local dealer here and they're asking just over $10K for it, just over 30K miles, so the '02 you're looking at seems like a good deal.
