New Long Tube Headers..Which O2's?
#1
I'm installing the dreaded LPP long tubes. Question is, I'm replacing the OEM O2's out of the oem y-pipe. Am I going to need extensions, a particular O2 that has long enough leads on it so no wiring custom mods are required?
Or??
Obviously the O2's go in the collectors on the long tubes....
Appreciate any help or advice. Thanks!

154k OEM miles and every once in a while the CE would set a code for either lean bank 1 or lean bank 2. Plus when I pulled them out of the factory Y-pipe they looked like they've been to hell and back, (ie hi heat and clight carbon in the sensor fins that hang in the exhaust strteam.

I did the same thing when I installed my LLP long tubes. If you haven't installed them yet though I would recommend selling them and getting something else. They are absolutely junk as far as fitment. They look well constructed, but the amount you have to ding, dent and deform is totally unreasonable from something supposedly designed for these trucks.

if you want quality and fitment like OE you gotta pay.

Well after a lot of consideration, I've ordered the Speed Engineering 1 3/4" long tubes and now have a set of the LPP's with OR Y-pipe new in the box they shipped them to me in.
After a lot of bench discussions with my truck buddies, seems the 2 wd guys with a stock trans pan are having a lot better luck with less to no fitment issues and no connection problems with factory or factory replicated cat-back exhaust systems.
All I need now is Speed Engineering to make their Off Road Y-pipe available and it's off to the pipe shop to modify it to work with my Dearle 2+ qt deep pan, (the one with the cooling tubes).
I suppose I may list the LPP's in the classifieds here (reasonably priced) of course as I suspect some may be working within a budget and won't mind making minor adjustments to make them fit.
I don't know if my set has problems or not, but just decided to do a "Do over" and buy the Speed Engineering headers based on their and many member's feedback here.
I'll be sure and post pictures of the install when I'm done. Currently bolting accessories back on, changing out computer with added pins for OEM cooling fans and installing new 34" core radiator. Everything else is done.
