the thing about the ls7 is the time involved with building the actual motor. if they're gonna release a lot of camaro's like they did in the last generation of f-body's they're not going to be able to mass-produce the ls7 in that scale whether it be an iron or aluminum block. I could see them puttin in a LS2 with a decent cam profile, that or they'll have a new LSX motor out.

on the IRS: the vette IRS setup wouldn't be transferrable to the new camaro unless the tranny would be the third member like in the vette. IRS would be pretty sweet for all the pro-touring guys out there. I'm sure they know that sumbitch will be used and abused so whatever they do they're gonna pack a lotta ponies into a well-built rough muscle-car that won't compete with the vette(well at least the Z-06).

I see an LS2 in the Camaro and an LS7 in the SS version. GM would be stupid not to do it that way - they would sell. That stuff about the Vette and crown jewel status is bunk IMO. The Grand National handily beat the Vette 1984-1987 (and it was a V-6 for crying out loud!) but that didn't stop GM from making the car.

I like the interior and the roof lines of the new Camaro. The rest; not so much. Looks like a fat guy with a uni-brow from the front; and the rear too for that matter.

The camaro I got to ride in had a ls2 in it and im almost sure that is what there going to put in it for there basic v8 car the ls7 or lsx ? will be for the special edition ss like the shelby cobra. But there will be a 427 car that is right from the head of engineering. I work in crash testing at gm so I see the cars 2 to 3 years in advance.but this car is being built in australia by holden so we wont see any till the middle or the end of the year

i seriously doubt they're gonna put the ls7 in it, but that'd be one fast ************ if they did. a cam/tune/stickies and you'll be in the low 12's IMO.

i really like the way the intake looks on that ls2 in the pix. the trunk looks like that'd be hell to trace a circuit lol.

According to Scott Settlemire the former Asst Camaro Brand Manager, and the current manager of GM car shows/events the new 5th gen will not be getting and LS2 or LS7. The new car will get the latest Gen engine not yet on the market.
