yeah, just terminology. I think the new "short box" is what I have on my '05 CC. I've only seen one extended cab with the short short box on it (an '06 I think), and to be honest, It looks kind of goofy, but maybe I'll get used to it after a while. They are actually shorter than an RCLB but with a longer wheelbase.

I dont think you can get an extended cab short short box, unless its a custom job

so for the 1999 and up trucks they should not call them regular cab short box they should change to regular cab medium box or Regular cab stubby long box

yeah you can. if you look right on that configuration site it shows you can get an EC with the CC bed. And I've seen a few 06s on the road that look like that. They look goofy as hell, and I dont quite understand why anyone would want that.

and to add to what NBred said...

the EC with the CC beds (06 anyways) are 4" shorter and have a 1" longer wheelbase than a RCLB. Thats via autotrader since its pretty acurate and the new silverado/sierra sites dont have that info yet.

I dug through Cowboy's link and found a dimensions and specs page on the GMC site. That's where I noticed the length/wheelbase comparison.

http://www.gmc.com/sierra900/1500/specsDimension.jsp

Just click on "Dimensions & Capabilities" and there is an exterior dimentsions section towards the bottom.

http://www.chevrolet.com/silveradocl...pecifications/

Click on dimensions and you will see the SCSSB dimensions for the '07 Classic (same as 2006 model) as an option. I have probably only caught one or two of them on the street, so there are not that many out there.

Here's a pic:
