What's the amperage draw on our batteries? Wondering how many amps mainly when cranking? No underdrive pulley nor stereo eqpt. Only big draw are the efans.

not sure what other dealers are selling them for, but we sell OEM delco batteries for $75.95, that's what I plan on getting when mine dies

Thats a good price. Especially if it's an OEM. Anyone know the purpose of the foamm padding that surrounds the battery? My dad said he thinks that it might be for absorbing some of the vibration the battery gets.

Would that padding be on the new DieHard or your old battery?

Either way, I don't know - never seen padding on a battery.

There is a specified procedure for charging Optima batteries - and it is not necessarily the same as 'normal' batteries.

my battery is 770 CCA at 32* F, just fyi. i was told by my mechanic that our trucks need at least 560 amps or something like that.
the padding i believe serves two purposes, to absorb vibration, and to absorb battery acid if it happens to leak from the top of the battery.

Padding is on there for simple insulation, help keep extreme heat and colds out..

I had a red top on my last truck with no problems, only had it prob a 1yr and then sold the truck. but ive read ALOT of bad stuff about them(optimas in general) and wont chance it again with one of them.
Ive herd some good recommendations for odyssey batteries and id like to try one, but they arent cheap at around double that of a reg battery..
