i know on the trucks that don't come with fog lights the wiring for them is there right? at least that is what i have read on here anyway.
now, i just got my wife a trailblazer and it did not come with fog lights. however the dealership said they would install the factory set for me. it was my pre-assumption that the wiring would already be there and they would just have to notch out the plastic and pop'em in then hook up the on off button and of course use tech 2 or whatever to program the computer.
well, the dealership is saying that they trailblazer isn't prewired and they would have to run a toggle switch to turn them on and off. that isn't what i want. period. but they are saying cost crap either take it or leave it.
i was wondering, instead of having a switch at all, couldn't they splice into the headlights to make the fog lights come on and go off when the head lights go on and go off? to me it seems possible but i dont' know if that would be too much drain on the wires. any ideas on that or a better way to approach the dealership.
thanks fellas. sorry so long

to elaborate on the toggle switch. they want to run one that you have to manually turn them on --ok not a big deal, but you have to also manually turn them off. that is a big deal.

It sounds like they are trying to be cheap about it.
I would just do it myself if you can get them to give you the stuff (foglights and wiring). Get you 2 relays (one for each side) and wire them up so the relays switch the foglights on with the low beams.

My 2001 Sierra was NOT pre-wired for foglights. I bought a fog light "kit" from GM (for lack of a better term) that included the air dam, lamps, wiring harness and interior switch for just under $100. The BCM had to be re-programmed so the switch would work.
I've never read anywhere that the truck are pre-wired from the factory for gof lamps. Is it on higher-end (SLE, LT) trucks and not the base (SL) trucks like I have? Maybe 03+ trucks are pre-wired?

i am gonna go talk to the guy we bought the truck from face to face instead of dealing with him over the phone. he tried to give my wife the runaround. he told her he would call when the lights came in to set up the appointment. well, she called, they weren't in and he made the promise again that he would call. well, she called today and they are in, but he tried to play like he had been waiting on her to call.
I offered to do it myself but my wife doesn't want me to touch it. when i go to talk to him i will suggest that they do it the with the relays so they come on and go off with the low beams. i'll use that slot in the interior for something else.
scream, i could have sworn i read that on here. i might be wrong but for some reason that is sticking in my head.

On my 04, I did the Fogs to my truck and it was wired only from the relay box to the location of the fog light switch. All I had to do was install the switch, and then the wires from the relay box to the lights and hook them up. REALLY easy. And the dealer did not to program them in either, and they work just perfectly.

If he keeps giveing you the run-around... just get the lights from him and I will come over and help you put them in.. the right way. I am working 4x10 now so I am off every friday so it is easier for me to get over your way now. Just let me know what you decide to do.

I still haven't heard anything concrete on what they are going to give me for my wheels yet. They did get it up on the frame machine this weeks though so that is a start on getting it back. Hopefull it can be done next week.
