i looked at the engine and it was the nicest thing about the car. he had gt40 heads, holley 600 or slightly larger carb, headers, dual exhaust. mech fuel pump, knn filter with the xcelarator top. i think it was accel ignition and wires. he still had the clutch fan also.

you and i must be putting down about the same hp numbers. my best is 14.8 but at 93 mph. that was on a cold day also.
I'm fixing to get my 3.90s installed tuesday. I know in cold weather I've got a 14.5 in the bag. I ran my 14.8 @ 94mph on sunny day earlier this year the temps were around 75. That was my full weight (3/4 tank of gas), 3.42s w/ 265/70/R16 Brand New Tires and removed headlight.

Didn't you do a 3.42 to 3.73 swap awhile back?

yea me and BigKID did the swap on my truck. the bottom end feels a ton better. you won't get the hwy kick like you will with 3.42's but i really didn't care about that. Put it this way, i can still pull a single cab dodge ram with the 5.7L and exhaust from 70 on up. so what little i did lose up top wasn't enough to keep me from beating those on the hwy.

i have only gone to the track once with the 3.73's and it was a hot day. i had not so good traction and i was running lean. so my times didn't reflect what the gears did for me.

Does this seem a little odd? Could he have been spraying?

if i hadn't seen the engine i would think the same thing. but i didn't see any lines or plate under the carb with nozzles in it. trust me, i wish i could say it took nitrous to beat me but unfortunatly it was all motor.

haha, you mention the front wheels about to come off the ground. thats what his car looked like. the first race when i yanked the dog snot out of him off the line and got over in front of him, i looked back and just watched his front end lift high into the air. at that moment, he accelerated like a ****!

the interior to that car was pretty much gutted. he had wires hanging everywhere and duct tape over where the center of the steering wheel goes. it looked like a bumper car steering wheel.
